Mood = Reaction. 'Anima' = 'Soul' is fantasy
Moods are 'less' than winks of an eye (a chemical state), but triggers of reactions.
The ancient thinker/biologist Aristotle invented the dream-state 'anima' as immaterial distinction between Greek 'humans' and non-Greek 'barbarian' animals. In Western Enlightenment this fascism arrogantly was made self-fulfilling in the rational IDEA that emotions are idea-based (understanding or Kant's pure reason). Body Soul Split triggered slavery, 'apartheid', world wars, atom bombs, dirty wars, war on terrorism, ...

Intelligent behavior is all associative manipulating of reactions on sense experiences. Moods are (Trigger, Reaction) pairs are stored in the chemical archive brain. 'Analytical' and chemical treatment of moods is often just killing not accepted creativity by doctors.

Reactions are cultural behavior triggered by languages. That might be sound language, but also body language/music (soul) or any sense language. 'Fear' is neither mood nor behavior, but a concept in the logic 'rationality'. For instance leading to fear of death in Western Culture. 'Soul' music seems to be a shared language among humans.
A mix of sense signals (mood or sense bouquet) in the brains triggers cultural behavior, by way of 'chemistry'. A culture is a huge set of behavior (trigger,mood); Terrorism is culture dependent, common sense is worldwide very similar

Logic: Making a model. Then, in this model, analizing pros and cons against criteria, and being logical in deciding. Being impersonal.
Emotion: Trying to find out what sensations people care about. Following intuition to maintain harmony.

Typical scene in 'rational' dreamworld. Common Sense person feels:"the air is very dry here. Is the heating on? Response rational person: "the heating is out, it says 0". Common Sense person: "Better just feel". 'Rational response': "indeed the heating is hot, it must be cold outside".








Mood definition

That results in the following written definition of mood:
- A mood is the sum of effects caused by the added experiences of all senses (sense signal bouquet)
- A mood is individual (it is relative, but can be shared)
- A mood is time, situation and culture dependent

- 'Justice' means dividing moods in 'good moods' and 'evil moods', using the Western World 'law and order' process (ethics) 'rationalism'
- 'Horse Whisperers' are specialized in the horse common sense. And not taming horses with 'rational' 'law and order' (brute force).
- Moods are rituals of evolution and locally 'optimal' in some culture.
- Intelligence is RANDOM associative evaluating of moods. During evolution intuition was developed to limit reactions to moods.
- 'Recently' abstract views more and more also trigger moods and in absence of intuition need limits (ethics).
- Freedom of Speech only respects accepted rules in 1 culture (however dominant), and might trigger 'terrorism' in other cultures.
- Western Humans only became advanced in pretending use of the abstract fantasy 'spirit' (i.e. people NOT being African, Red Indian, Eskimo, Aboriginal or Asian)


The example "love" (be cool and listen to the soul music of your 'heart'):
- love smells superb, tastes twinkling, feels fine, sounds super, and looks luring
- love makes you argue differently (follow your heart), or love is intuition
- timing is essential and the surroundings and the culture have great influence (but love follows 'chance')
- love obeys flexible 'laws' from 'common sense' but not rigid rules out of 'rational' logic
- lovable: a young stallion generally is found 'lovable', but it is huge and every farmer knows it might become 'dangerous'.









Ethics and being Angry

Economists might say that printed rectengular paperlets have value and is that this value is private property. Or Chinese Communists might say that the Dalai Lama is a terrorist. Then my intuition makes my body react angry. It is a direct result of natural ethics colliding with artificial ethics. My body 'says': "no abstract political non-sense. I sense what I sense".
My common sense reacts IMMENSELY frustrated when say Chinese Communist Government arouses EXTREME anger by sending the message: Getting angry is terrorist, because our soldiers torturing Tibetans is internal affair.

Sociologists, psychologists and often also psychiatrists explain all rational mysteries with 'soul-illness'. Peculiar because 'soul' is immaterial (fantasy). Then they use the 'rational' value 'justice' and law and order to order death penalties, prison sentences, etcetera. Or to send serial killers on 2 weeks leave (no evidence that their deadly BEHAVIOR changed, but their immaterial 'soul' seems much cleaner).
In WWII the Germans were driven by the Nazis and unresponsible media into a murderous agressive mood. In technology that MIGHT lead to anti intuitious miracles. Social intuition proves to be amazingly refined. When your body 'gets angry' (the initial reaction to Nazi thinking of most Germans) then mostly some behavior indeed 'really' got outside natural limits. Anger might change into fear and immobility, because of continuous suppression.
Anyway black skies indeed are dark, and might predict a thunderstorm. Be happy if this is 'only' a mindstorm causing a total paradigm shift.

The American thinker Thomas Kuhn already predicted such shifts of paradigms (see Kuhn about Thought Revolutions). Only he might have thought that such major changes of view are only scientific. But he should have realized that such 'total turn arounds' are cultural.

Friedrich Nietzsche got terribly upset realizing that after Enlightenment Western culture took an individualistic and egoistic course. That made him write the biblical satire Also sprach Zarathustra. After reading this work producing the 'theory of knowledge' of Nietzsche is not difficult at all, when mainly using common sense.

Chemical 'medicines' that only suppress moods, hide valuable sensations. Influencing moods by changed behavior is treating the 'roots of problems', without side effects. Sedating angry people might be goal of power addicted media, but remains a short term instrument.
At present the Israel Palestine Conflict is a horrible but perfect example of the influence of moods. Political compromise (or tranquillizing) is only postponing real solutions. And often addictive.
Sex is the way evolution found to join cultures. To save slavery (the conflict good-bad) the Roman Warrior culture invented a variant of Judean Christianity with the myth of the snake in the paradise. In the meantime many people know: snakes are beautiful products of creativity in evolution, and a few use poison as DEFENSE.
Actors practice reactions to moods. That's why many people feel acquainted, they recognize some combination of mood and behavior.

Behaving like a rational politician is ALL the time evading verbal criticism. Staying away from the essence, and inventing crooked compromises. That's IMMENSELY FRUSTRATING and in the very end causes terrorism like that of Osama bin Laden.













The yin and yang of being angry and laughing

Nothing mysterious but human babies already show that the combination of short bursts of being angry, and longer periods of relaxed stretching is amazingly successful. Another example:when giving birth women alternate puffs of anger with periods of 'giving over'.

When practicing yoga, and trying to lay your legs behind your head, it is no help to get angry.
Anger injects a burst of adrenaline, that's necessary for extra strength. But when prolonged that results in cramps.

The common sense message is: Train your intuition, mistakes are inevitable but part of learning. Anger should not be suppressed, but be used 'cleverly'. No compromise, but learning by trial and error. Respecting others in their learning process.



















Mood and Language (1)

For sure in the Western World the most important 'intelligence bearer' is language.
Western societies all became rational, and spoken and written rational language became awfully dominant.

An example of how English language can kill other cultures
(1) English dictionaries find words for 'spirit' and 'god' in cultures without original Roman influence
(2) .. VERY weird, only Roman Christian cultures believe in UFO's ('spirits'). Common Sense makes that People of Natural Cultures smile about ABSTRACT 'spirits'.
(3) Influence of English language (the Anglican view of reality) transfers such cultures stealthily in copies of the Roman Christian culture.
(4) English became the language of the Anglican view on the world (Roman Christian and in some ways fundamentally Protestant).
(5) Have a fresh look at the Northern Ireland conflict between the Celt Culture in Ireland and an agressive Protestant culture.

The Egyptian hieroglyph 'ka' represents something that started with birth, and distinguished a living person from a dead one. Egyptians believed that a dying person in a flash grasped 'ka'. 'ka' remained as 'akh' after death. It's not sure that 'ka' was personal. Some tombs included model houses for 'ka' to survive. Offerings would be left at a tomb entrance so 'ka' could eat and drink. 'Ka' and 'akh' might have been something like physical body and physical aura, 'ka' your bodly strength before bodily death (your drive-by-wire part of life) and 'akh' as 'ki'/chi/rei-ki/aura (your 'energyfield, used in state 'psychic' to steer life wireless).
Anyway both 'ka' and 'akh' are usually translated by Roman Christians as "soul" or "spirit", 'ka' during life and 'akh' during afterlife. They are seen by 'rational' scientists as individual quality.

That's just cultural 'mapping'. 'ka' could as well mean be translated with human 'life force', and the 'akh'-part was stil alife after bodily death. 'Akh' was supposed to fly freely over the earth as 'akh-akh' (represented by the Ibis). 'Ka' and 'akh' were VERY important values of the whole Egyptian culture. No 'ka' and 'akh', no culture.
Like in present capitalist cultures scientists (priests) worship m.a. and b.a., without these powerful emotional values you're supposed to be 'as good as dead'

The Egyptian symbol 'ankh' represented something like 'nature' or 'evolution' (life in general).
The sign is like a Roman Christian cross, and still much used in Egyptian decorative art.












Mood and Language (2)

The ancient Egyptians were not familiar with the (pure imagination=fantasy) Aristotelian concept immaterial 'spirits'.
For ancient Egyptians, like for all common sense people, every phenomenon was physical. Ancient Egyptions observed that at bodily death, often the aura was still (partly) functioning.
And seemed to be able to move freely (like with the eye invisible birdlike ghosts). Ancient Egyptians tried through mummifying to give this aura a familiar home.


'Allah' in Arabic does NOT indicate the Roman Christian emotion 'God', but is more like the Asian cultural feeling 'Buddha'
The word 'Allah' represents the emotion(s) triggered by remembrance of the willpower of Mohammed. His 'akh' or 'akhira' (Arabian) is what is said to be on the other side of death or in the world of the unseen. Mohammad himself is much more worshipped by Muslims like Buddhists honor Gautama Buddha.
Only Mohammed was a warriorlike trader with motto: Attack is the best Defense. The teachings of Gautama Buddha are relativi-ish, those of Mohammad are absoluti-ish. Muslims are in ethical crisis, but perfect warriors.

Other ways of communication are in fact equally important, but especially in the Western World largely ignored. Only music combined with video in clips seems at present to be able to force cracks in this behavior. It shows that this 'language' is much more international.
If in 'rational' texts the common sense word 'fair' is used, then the author wants his readers to get the common sense mood 'fair'. It helps having a m.a. or b.a. amulet (scientific degree) to enter such a dream. Common Sense people feel that there is no guarantee AT ALL that the text indeed deserves the ethical quality label 'fair'. The sticker High Quality Food points at a lot of rational testing, still it might proudly decorate a package hamburgers made of waste.
Fine example: During the 21st century Iraq colonization the US president often tries to trigger the emotion 'fair'. Effortlesly mixed with a tranquillizing use of the word 'democracy'. Nice acting performance. Texts only serve as triggers of a sequence of moods.
















Mood and Language (3)

Not only rational language became dominant, but mainly the rational variant of the language English.
Statistics of the use of English are hugely overestimating the use. Statistically all the French, German and Japanese speak English. In practice near to 2% actively uses the language, and only when there is no alternative available.
The inherent risk of such exaggerating figures is that a really huge part of the World Population is condemned to the garbage bin. This happens inherently and ignorantly by the English speaking ountries.
This is what I call the Language Paradigm. Only a fraction of the Word Population speaks English, half of this group is handicapped in using English as a way to express moods. Nevertheless English is becoming world language.


Any language represents a culture, because it presumes belief in the hidden cultural logic. Without cultural change such a language belief system becomes rigid if the hidden logic is absolute (frozen creativity). The rational logic that since Enlightenment represented the Roman Christian idea mind-body split is absolute.
The religion 'Science' (or German: Forschung) when mainly or completely abstract 'always' (?) leads to 'death' (circular thinking or 'religion'). Copying the abstract Forschung (or rational thinking) from German universities in social departments of their leading university (before that based on manipulating experience of reality), introduced the powerthinking that made leading Japanese circles decide to enter WWII.
Introducing 'social engineering' in social departments of Western universities made Western leading circles in about the same timespan ready for starting a WWIII



Frightening.










Communicating Moods

Practically all ancient cultures like The Egyptian culture seemed to believe in 'spirit of life'. The Egyptians like many cultures believed in return of life and conservated WHOLE bodies in mummies. Alexander the Cursed destroyed this natural way of believing in 'Unity of Body and Mind', by placing a strict border between physical and 'mental' by way of SPLIT of body and soul (bodies temporarily housing eternal 'spirits'). Later in Roman Christianity this was called the duality 'body and spirit'. Spirits were believed to be invisible and fly freely, they only needed a living brain as home. In this science fiction view bodies were waste, and spirits swapped from bodies.

Anyway, sense experience needs communication. Sound is communicated in language, smell and flavour are communicated by taste. Sight is communicated through pictures. Etcetera. And the mixed 'mood' is communicated through 'expression'.

'Rational' people mainly communicate 'abstract' (i.e. in fantasies). Even worse 'rational' people got afraid of emotions. They tried to suppress this fear by dampening emotion. This was done by medicines (tranquillizers), by therapy (analysis), by food (junkfood), by politics (compromise) and by war (War on Terrorism). Not deliberately, but pure as reaction to fear for emotion.
The Israel Palestine Conflict is a perfect example how this finally results in building concentration camps and genocide. IBM already successfully actively assisted Hitler in automizing concentration camps. Now this multinational is cheered by both 'left' and right leaders in Israel (Shimon Perez and Sharon) as 'fighting for peace'. Building a wall around Palestine is only the beginning...


Using moods is communicating with another unities (language).
The ancient polynesian 'navigators' were 'reading' the signs of the ocean. Very complex signs of weather, ocean, animal behavior. This way with their ancient polynesian 'catamarans' already far before Christ they dared to aim for sailing to small islands 1000 or more seamiles away.

Dictatorships also use moods (think of Hitler Germany, North Korea under Kim Jong Il, Cambodja under Pol Pot, Turkmenistan under Turkmenbashi and successor, ...., 21st century US). For say 95% the emotion FEAR. Dictators rule by fear. Such frenzy of fear is 'injected' by pretending very dangerous enemies (terrorists of all kinds). For president B. 9/11 was a gift from heaven for evoking nationwide fear in the US..













The Human Herd


Already in ancient Gnostic Christianity 3 types of humans were distinguished, based on use of mood.
Of course mostly existing in mixed shape.
By the way: Gnosticism was thoroughly annihilated by ROMAN Christianity.

1. The Thinkers: Experimenting with the logic behind moods (the Ethics), and extending this Ethics.

2. The Herd: Following The Thinkers, mainly using locally traditional intuition.

3. The Warriors: Defenders of locally traditional Intuition.


Present Western Culture is a Herd with skilful Warriors fighting a War on Terrorism, but in 'leading' circles without Thinkers

The Prejudice 'Primitive'

In modern English language the notion 'primitive' raises negative moods.
In Latin the notion 'primitus' meant : first, for the first time.
Seen in DNA human brains didn't change much the last million of years, differences in behavior are caused by differences in local additions to general common sense.

In ancient 'Gnosticism' humans are roughly distinguished in Thinker, Herd and Warriors.
Seen in that light 'primitive' means: encountered for the first time and using some ununderstood ethics. 100% Thinkers (Gnostics) are rare, but capable of amazing things. Not by birth, but by pure chance through experience.
Gnosticism triggered Druidism, where a Thinker was called 'Druid'.
Gnosticism is the doctrine of preserving and extending knowledge of reality. Latin 'gnosis' means 'knowledge', Greek 'gnostikos' means 'good at knowing'), Roman Christianity believed in a soul obedient to the Supreme Power ('God'). Gnosticism believed in Intuition and common sense. Believing in power as source of leadership versus believing in wisdom. Gnostic wisdom was arrogantly called 'quasi-intuitive' or 'mythical' knowledge by the Roman Christian Religion. Leaders in Gnosticism considered themselves as wise, because they WERE (relatively) wise. But the Romans mistakenly interpreted that as arrogant. Gnostic Leaders were 'Thinkers' and as such special people. Although druids acted more like 'father of a family'.
In the popular cartoon 'Asterix', the sympathetic Panoramix is the Druid and the hero's Asterix and Obelix are Warriors.

 A 'primitive' culture may be headed by an outlaw 'druid' 'Albert Einstein'. Such a person would be treated like a 'father' and own amazing talents.
My guess: ununderstood wonders like Stonehenge are products of such very talented leaders. Not by a greater 'understanding' (understanding is a myth invented in later Enlightenment). But by revalueing the [mood-reaction] archive and that way extending common sense.
100% Thinkers of course attracted the local 'high achievers'.

Once a 'while' (say every 1000 years) such a leader by pure chance gets to be a ghostbuster (prophet) Buddha or Jesus, and triggers a 'reality redesign' (Total Paradigm Shift). Adding essential features to general common sense. Buddha added 'relativism', Jesus added 'love'.
Non-human animals are perfect companions in case of 'fear', 'anger' ... and for giving love and respect.
The senses of many animals are subtile. Two examples: dogs are fine detectors of tumors; rats are ideal for detecting land mines.
White Americans gave the 'music of common sense' (music of emotion) names like: jazz, soul, blues. Soul music does not point to the virtual notion 'soul' (like in the protestant saying: "my soul belongs to God"), but to surviving as 'one of many pieces of earth' with bodily emotions between happiness (action=creativity) and sadness (reaction=recovery).

The Argentine dance 'tango', is beautiful human animal behavior (a mating RITUAL). 'Rationalism' in the past changed Argentine leaders from human animals behaving through common sense into emotionless 'logical thinkers' (and finally butchers).
