Man is part of reality

Since birth of Catholicism and especially since Immanuel Kant Western people consider 'ratio' as above reality and sense as 'white noise', and worship the virtual reality of 'ratio' (non-sense) as 'god' or 'understanding'.
Kant might be seen as the godfather the virtual reality of companies like IBM, Microsoft, Apple, Google

A malicious paradox
20th century Philosophy in a Nutshell
Ratio, Egoism and Atom Bombs

toy soldier In WWII help of Lutheran GB+US was needed to beat Lutheran Nazi Germany. Cynical because Wallstreet funded Hitler, and Britain was looking for worldpower itself. Hitler admired and feared Churchill, as a copy of himself. America in this way discovered its own worldpower talents.

After WWI Great Britain and Russia in close cooperation (the great game) robbed an area much bigger than Europe of Ottoman Empire and Persian Empire. America did not react.

America had tolerated the grand theft of UK and Russia after WWI. And after WWII America was rewarded with unlimited influence in Japan, Korea, Philippines and Indonesia (the last 3 countries now have a big calvinist church). America had great power of skill, but lacked subtility. And in the 21st century still does.

This is asking for disaster

The US produced great do'ers, but qua social life the rest of the century got infected with in a resistant variant of positivism.
The huge influence of the US in Europe caused a return of ruthless 'rationalism', the 'Spirit of Capitalism'.
During Enlightenment this egoism in shape religion with the Lutherans had fled from Europe to The New World
