Immanuel Kant was the last person who could have stopped rational thinking as unpurposely started by Descartes.
Kant clearly had 'enough' intelligence but fundamentalism made his thinking awfully rigid. But in his time and fundamental protestant surrounding he was accepted as an authority (resulting in the Lutheran Church).
Instead Kant decided not to fight and only used the logical strength of rational thought to make his own dogmatic point. He might be seen as cause of today's trouble.
That's why Friedrich Nietzsche 'hated' Kant. Nietzsche recognized compromising
as awfully destructive force. He saw it in religion and in politics.
Because Nietzsche mistakenly was seen as anti religion, he was not accepted. Later also Ludwig Wittgenstein and Thomas Kuhn were
only partially understood, causing 'the trouble' to proceed. Their not succeeding was caused by utterly strong and egoistic rational counter forces. |
