For all its issues, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 has been a huge success for Activision and Infinity Ward. Not only did it top the UK physical sales charts in its debut week, but it also had the biggest PlayStation Store launch for the series, as announced by PlayStation on Twitter.
The figure includes pre-orders and first-day sales, although Activision hasn’t released total sales figures yet. As a sequel to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019), a reboot of the 2007 classic, the campaign sees Task Force 141 on a world tour to stop a terrorist threat. It is the first game to use the new unified Call of Duty Engine.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC. Check out our official review here for more information. Season 1 kicks off on November 16, with Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 launching on the same day.
