REVIEW
Dual timeline books can be a little slow at first, but there’s so much to introduce (as I haven’t read Books 1-3). I really like historical fiction and the characters in this book are great to get to know. Whether you read in 1641 or 1945, there will be many things that have stood the test of time.
As the story begins, we are introduced to a courier who runs with a painting on his body. He is in a hurry and hears a pack of wolves on his tail. Will he be able to avoid them? As the timeline changes, the professor and assistants conduct an archaeological dig. What do they think? The remains of the courier and the sealed tube with the painting inside.
This painting happens to be a painting of a muskateer and signed by Rembrandt. The professor and many young people are part of the resistance in Oslo, Norway during World War II. They are very brave and bold, but seem to have signs of PTSD as their missions are often dangerous.
The book gives a wonderful perspective on resistance that I had never heard of. Truly, the Nazis caused so much suffering wherever they went. It is very encouraging to read hopeful stories from those who have gone before us and who were very brave.
